Have you heard of the hottest web series bringing entertainment to millions of viewers every week? If not allow Ke(y) to put you on to the Reawakening.tv because you have definitely been missing out. This show is filled with a phenomenal cast ages 14 to 28.

The plot is about a young woman name Misty who is the eldest of four, Misty has been

the maternal figure for her siblings. We watch Misty juggle try to juggle keeping her

family in line, and out of the streets. We are also able to dive into the struggles of the

of the other characters as well. The show is raw, suspenseful, relatable, and 100% real

to the Chicago experience. The writer, producer, and director Donte Fain, created the

show a few years ago. Since its conception, the titles have changed, and he's even

dabbled in different arenas of writing, specifically stage plays, but he has always

stayed true to the plan of "The Reawakening". Fans have been waiting over two years

for the return of the series and on Thanksgiving day 2015, Donte Fain came back harder

than ever. This season of "The Reawakening" is the best I've ever seen, and I had the

chance to chop it up with a fan favorite from the cast and his name is Derrick Hayes.

If you are familiar with "The Reawakening", then you know him as Cameron. Cameron is

Misty's ex-boyfriend, and a respected paternal figure to Misty's younger brother Enoch,

and lets just say both men are definitely about that thug life.

Derrick aka Cameron is a 25 year old man who grew up on the west side of Chicago.

He is an entertainer, writer, and a career driven businessman. He is also a member of

YHPHB (Young Hustling Players Handling Business). YHPHB is a crew you may recognize producing and presenting rappers from the Chicago area, but to Derrick it is

not just a name, it's a lifestyle. This season of "The Reawakening" is the fourth project

Derrick has done with Donte Fain, other projects include "The Osiris Story", "The Reawakening Stage Play", and "Nick's Story". I am thankful for opportunity to talk

to Derrick because he opened my eyes to things about "The Reawakening" and the impact

that Donte Fain's productions have had on him, and the youth in the city of Chicago.

When I asked Derrick how his experiences with Donte Fain have changed his life, he

responded by saying, acting is not something he saw himself doing when he graduated high

school, but he feels he is right where he is suppose to be. He says that acting encourages him and motivates him to go to the next level despite what he sees on a daily basis in Chicago. Derrick says, "Donte Fain has created an outlet for misguided youth in the city, who would probably never would have considered acting or the arts." He also added, he

now sees children that want to be more than a rapper or a "hooper", and that being a part

of Fein's production gives the youth hope.

This spoke volumes to me especially being from Chicago. Fain's productions are not just for

entertainment, his shows also teach lessons and make a difference. Derrick's experiences with Fein have inpsired him to do more acting, build his brand, and write a few projects of his own. He is able to do this and more by surrounding himself with like minded individuals such as brothers in YHPHB who he says he has, "grown with and hustled with." He has also never lost sight of who and what is important such as his family, friends, the state of the young men in the city of Chicago, and the state of the city of Chicago itself. Derrick says these things along with prayer, being honest with himself, keep him on track, and focused on his dreams. In the words of Derrick Hayes, "I keep it 100 with myself, and 100 with the people who keep it 100 with me."

Derrick is a very humble guy, who appreciates all of the support from his fans and who is excited that the show has even brought him this far, with an endorsement deal with Hard Route Clothing. Think about it, there are no easy routes to success. His final words to inspire others who want to act, be a part of the arts, or follow their dreams are, "Believe in yourself, stay focused, be patient, believe in God, invest in yourself, and in the words of Paul J Adama, work, plan, build, and dream in that order, and find a way or make one."

If you thought "The Reawakening" was another series with untrained actors, promoting violence, you thought wrong. This show sheds light on the violence and police brutality that is effecting Chicago, and the U.S as a whole all while touching love, loyalty, family, and young characters who want to go against steretypes and beat the odds. The actors are passionate and serious about what they do. Donte Fain and his cast are breaking barriers, and impacting lives in the city of Chicago, and for children living in urban areas around the U.S.

If the Eccentric Ke(y) is the first to put you on to "The Reawakening", don't fret clink the link below to begin watching now and tune in for the finale.
